Here’s All You Need to Know To Start Creating Content With Wiral LITE

In an earlier post we’ve discussed why Wiral LITE cable camera kit is a great alternative to drones. It goes where drones can’t, and it’s safer and simpler to use. With a cable camera, you can film indoors, close to people and safely capture high-speed action.

But that’s not all. Wiral LITE lets you create some of the most important film shots with no other gear needed. Exploring its versatility will let you apply your knowledge, stretch the limits of your creativity and ultimately help you tell your story better. 

Now, what are some of the most important things to keep in mind if you’ve decided to, or are considering adding Wiral LITE to your filming arsenal? Keep reading for an overview of what makes Wiral LITE a game-changer when it comes to simplicity of use.

Here are the answers to some of the most important questions about Wiral LITE.

Is Wiral LITE easy to set up?

You guessed it - Wiral LITE is super easy to set up. In most cases, it should take you just a couple of minutes before you’re ready to create with Wiral LITE and your camera. 

All you need to do once you’ve picked the location for filming is set up the line, mount your camera to Wiral LITE and place the unit on the line. Check out this video for a rundown of how easy it is to set up and control Wiral LITE.  

One of the most important things we had in mind when designing Wiral LITE is that we wanted to make sure virtually anyone can use it, right out of the box. That’s why you won’t find any complicated settings or unnecessary buttons anywhere.

This still doesn’t mean that Wiral LITE isn’t packed with features that challenge you and stretch your creativity and video-making skills. Three different speed modes will serve any purpose. So you’ll be able to capture everything from smooth tracking shots and time-lapses, action-packed sequences, to automatic sliding movement with your camera.

How fast does Wiral LITE move?

We mentioned the three different modes above. Those are Normal Mode, Sport Mode, and Timelapse Mode. A bonus feature in Normal Mode is the Ping Pong Motion setting, which lets your camera move automatically on Wiral LITE during filming. We’ve written about Ping Pong Motion in a separate post, which you can check out here.

Normal Mode lets you control the movement of your Wiral LITE from 0 to 1.2 meter per second (or 0 to 3.9 feet per second), by turning the speed wheel on the remote control. You will soon be able to control the speed through the Wiral LITE App as well. The app is scheduled to be released by end of Q2 2020, and you can sign up here for updates and be the first to know when it's out.

In Sport Mode, you can control the speed of Wiral LITE from 0 to 9.5 meters per second (or 0 to 31 feet per second), while the unit moves on six different levels in Timelapse Mode, from 6.6 meters per hour (21.4 feet per hour) to 40 meters per hour (131.2 feet per hour).

What camera can I use with Wiral LITE?

Now here's the best part. You can use practically any camera with Wiral LITE: your smartphone camera, a DSLR or a mirrorless camera, action cameras like the GoPro Hero Series, DJI Osmo Pocket, etc. or a 360 camera such as Insta360 ONE X. Your choices are pretty darn vast.

One thing to keep in mind is that the total payload limit on Wiral LITE is 1.5kg / 3.3 lbs, so you'll have to keep your setup (camera including any lenses or additional gear) under that weight.
